Suwannee River Yoga began in January of 2006. The first class was taught on a Tuesday at 5:45pm and this class continues to the present. Another morning class at 8:00am was added several months later. Both of these classes are taught by Dorothy Price, a resident of White Springs. She completed her yoga teacher training with Deva Parnell at Discovery Yoga in St. Augustine November 2002. Guest teachers are hosted from time to time. The first workshop held at Suwannee River Yoga in May of 2006 was Yoga and Bellydancing. Some of the other past workshops include: Yoga & Core with Johnny Dame, Yoga for the Back with Ann Gill, New Beginnings with Khrys Kantarze. Southern Comforts - Sudye Cauthen, founder of the North Florida Center for Documentary Studies, directed Florida's first Folk-Arts in the school program. Her work has appeared in such publications as the Chattahoochee Review, Florida Review, International Quarterly, Kalliope and the New Encyclopedia of Southern Culture.

A true gateway to outdoor recreation, it was the first town to be designated a Florida Trail Gateway Community & hosted the first Florida Hiking Festival in 2008. The Florida Trail & Suwannee Wilderness Trail pass right through town, with access to dozens of other hiking & biking opportunities nearby.

Suwannee River Wilderness Trail

Visitors can begin their adventure on the 170-mile Suwannee River Wilderness Trail in White Springs. Here, they will find the upper Suwannee narrow, flowing through towering pines & stately cypress that line the riverbanks & high bluffs. A slow & lazy current make it an ideal setting for picnics & leisurely paddling outings.
